If your baby is teething, you’re likely searching for a solution to help soothe the discomfort. No one likes to see their baby in pain! Our dentist, Dr. Gina Khong, understands how hard the teething phase can be for both you and your baby. So, she would like to help you both by giving you the tips you need to soothe the discomfort. Those tips are:

-Rub your baby’s gums (By massaging the gums with a clean finger, you can soothe the tissues and surrounding muscles)

-Chill your baby’s gums (Give your baby cold things to chew on, like a cold binky, a cold spoon, and more. This can help them break the teeth through the gums as well as ice the area)

-Try giving your baby hard foods (These foods could be things like a peeled and chilled cucumber or carrot. Make sure to watch them closely while they gnaw on these things)

-Give your baby an over-the-counter painkiller (Acetaminophen and ibuprofen can provide your child relief from the pain for a little while. Make sure to ask your pediatrician about the recommended dosage)

-Use teething toys (Teething toys are meant to help your child break their teeth through the gums, which can provide a lot of comfort)

-Keep your baby close to you (If your baby is clingy, like most babies are, give them the comfort they need by strapping them in a baby carrier across your chest while you get your daily chores done)
